Abstract

This paper explores the potential of film as a medium for moral education and spiritual
transformation, particularly in countering the negative influences of social media on youth. It
examines how faith-based films, guided by media effects and social learning theories, can
promote positive values and virtuous character traits. The study reviews historical and
contemporary examples of filmmakers using cinema for evangelism and Christian education. It
also addresses the challenges and opportunities of the digital landscape, where faith-based films
compete with sensationalized online content. Ultimately, the paper argues that the strategic use
of film, informed by youth media consumption habits, can help the Church foster moral
development and counter the erosion of values driven by social media. The findings are relevant
for religious leaders, media ministries, and Christian filmmakers.
